Angie Heal has over 40 years’ experience of working in public and voluntary sector organisations, including the NHS, police and local authorities. After practising as a general and psychiatric nurse, she predominantly worked with adults with complex needs (substance misuse), before taking up research and policy/procedure development roles over the last 18 years.
Her work as a strategic drugs analyst for South Yorkshire Police and Partnerships led to her researching child sexual exploitation in Rotherham because of the links between the two issues. She co-authored a book for practitioners as a result, sharing learning from those involved.
She formed Policy Partners Project with Sam Mayne in 2014. They provide online sites for adult policies and procedures for adult social care, safeguarding adult boards and provider services.
This guide educates practitioners on the effects and indicators of sexual abuse in adults, sustained at any point in their life, and the multi-agency and well-networked response needed to support them.
